Emerging Cuisines: Asian Accents
Diverse ethnic flavors are catching on with a variety of consumers.
The award-winning movie, Slumdog Millionaire, may be just the impetus needed to make Indian cuisine the "next big thing" culinary trendspotters have long been predicting. The signs are there, according to a report from the Mintel International Group:
- Indian cuisine has grown by 25% on restaurant menus over the past 3 years (Mintel Menu Insights).
- Although not as popular as the general Asian category, more consumers are purchasing Indian food at the retail level.
